"Moonlit Petroglyph" is the fourth weaving in a series that is inspired by the Native American petroglyphs that can be found on islands in the Susquehanna River. The symbol formed by the moonlight on the water is an image of the rock carvings that looks   distintctly Asian. Although I don't know what it represents (nor does anyone really), I was instantly drawn to it. Many of the carvings such as this, look to me like they may have been some kind of directional maps of some kind and this started me thinking about what kind of glyphs our culture makes. Maps came to mind and the tiny symbol on the bottom of this piece is a woven glyph for where I live on the bend of the Susquehanna River. |
